Merissa filmed her first commercial in her teens and soon secured a role in award-winning short film Tube Poker. This was followed by a number of music videos, most notably the lead role in The Streets' Blinded by the Lights, directed by Adam Smith.

After being offered a recording contract, she then spent the next several years in the music industry, most recently co-writing a track for Saint Etienne. She always yearned to return to acting however and was soon cast in a number of high-profile commercials.

She has enjoyed a recurring role as lead character Shadowstar in online action-heroine series Next Global Crisis and has also starred in a number of short films, including The Mousetrap, released in October 2015. Her first feature film, He Who Dares: Downing St Siege, was released in January 2015
